Chris May 28th, 2013 Just about everyone loves rainy nights, unless of course your outside stuck in it. But if your lucky enough to be safe at home while the rain splatters down upon the top of your roof then you can rejoice while enjoying the warmth of being inside. Preferably under the covers. The feeling of safety warms ones soul as the sound of the falling rain roars through the house like trotting horses across...

Where's My Energy?

You are here: Home » Where's the Energy? Captain Imperfecto May 15th, 2013 I used to be in good physical shape. However, now, after one short year after my wife's death, I just struggle to keep my energy level high enough to tend to my 3 and 5-year-old boys. I just can't get motivated to return to a gym to improve those energy levels.  Before my wife died, no one could keep me out from the inside of a gym. Cardio and free weights were my stress relief. And now you'd think I'd want to lift those weights again since I've been so stressed out lately, but I don't. Working out my body was my outlet for feeling better about myself. Don't we all strive to feel better about ourselves? But the hours I had to go to the 24-hour gym were grueling. But I went so I could be consistent with my body. And yet, I never had to search as hard as I do for the need to get back in the sweatbox until now. I'm either too lazy or just over-tired. I choose the ladder...

Contributing Causes

You are here: Home » Contributing Causes Left: Nico, Captain Imperfecto and Christopher  May 10th, 2013 The adventures of children are always a contributing cause. That's one of the reasons I call myself Captain Imperfecto. If not for my actions, I could prevent just 1/3 of my boys' mischief. Which, in hindsight, isn't a whole lot, but it's a start. My boys have recently been fighting over the iPad. For a time, it was just my oldest son Nico (5) with exclusive rights to all its fun and games. But now, with Christopher, the youngest (3), becoming more tech-savvy, he wants more time with the iconic device. I decided to delve into my safe and dig out my old iPhone G3. Yes, I gave one of the boys a small handheld device loaded with games. They think there would be less confrontation with this new toy, and they would both be happy. The first thing I did was hook up the iPhone to my computer, which was a big mistake. iTunes locked my phone because it wasn't rec...

Come with Me

You are here: Home » Come with Me Captain Imperfecto at the helm  Come with me. To the far reaches of the ocean as we travel on a light breeze scurrying our bodies along the waters wake. The spray of the sea launches from the blue blanked and it  accelerates  into our face, but a light mist gently dances upon our skin.  Follow the aroma of the beach to travel to our never never land where we can find the shores of our new playground. Lets seek out our new adventures together as we untangle this thing called life. But lets not be afraid to fall in the sea where we may drown in our misery. But take a risk that we may float and survive the past as we travel into our unknown. Come with me to a place where we can read and laugh and celebrate life while placing are feet in the sand and forming our own space where we can feel the warmth of the sun on our skin. The adventure is just beginning, my friends. But I need you to come with me, so we won’t be alone in ...

Be Right Back, Daddy

You are here: Home » Be Right Back, Daddy Left to right: Christopher and Nico on Disney's monorail April 17th, 2013 The carts of the roller coaster slowly ascended towards the deep blue sky that is like a canopy saturating the magical world of Disney. The crowd seated in the rows of the 8 carts in front of me, began to raise their hands towards the sky as if they were worshipping god.  Clank- clank- clank - could be heard over the shrills and shrieks of the excited riders as the cars slowly reached the peak.  And without warning the ride suddenly stopped, just inches from the top. “ What the hell happened,” I hear someone exclaim. I sunk low in my seat and looked around as if I hadn’t had a clue. But I knew and everyone else who was standing in line behind me knew.  My kids had stopped the ride. At the last moment on Saturday I decided that I would take the boys to Walt Disney World. I know it’s not like we weren’t just there but I wanted to get out o...

Fantasyland

You are here: Home » Fantasyland Left to right: Christopher, Captain Imperfecto and Nico on Disney's monorail April 11, 2013 I knew I had to start somewhere in this life. Even if where I started would begin on some random day of the week during any month of the year. I knew a day would come when I would test the waters of dating. I had finally begun to pick myself up off the ground. Brush off the dirt from my clothes and bandage my skinned knees. I thought I had started to mend my broken heart.  But I was wrong. Way wrong. That or I just chose the wrong person as a first date. I started a friendship a few weeks ago with a girl (this is so high school) and decided to try dating her (a science experiment). We talked on the phone (like teenagers) and exchanged text messages (like juveniles) like the rest of the world. I was pretty comfortable with her being normal. As I am sure, she was relieved to know that I was almost just as normal (case in point, we didn't have coot...
