Undefeated

You are here: Home » Undefeated Nico (right) with his little brother Christopher celebrating his Leap Year birthday at school. March 8, 2016 I feel defeated when a project I’m working on fails or just something I really wanted didn’t go my way. And what sucks is, once that defeat gets rolling, I can feel defeated about everything going on in my life, that day, and beyond. When this feeling occurs I get on myself for not accomplishing what I set out to do. And the defeat for this day doesn’t stop nagging me but continues for everything else that occurs there after. And, of course I make it worse because all those bad things that occur there after are over analyzed causing it to be magnified 100 million percent! Which of course is overwhelming on my mental status because I spend the day trying to renationalize my emotions and feelings which then consumes my thought process, which then takes way from my concentration, and then my focus stops on my project at hand, wh...

Twists and Turns

You are here: Home » Twists and Turns Celebrating Nico's (left) birthday. He's with his brother Christopher in the ticket tube. February 29, 2016 Sometimes life, well, it sucks. Many of us living this miracle face many moments of adversity from its twists and turns as life's winding journey sends all of us down its path of uncertainty. Minor setbacks can cause us to feel a microcosm of stress. And those little things can add up. Such as a failed class in school, a resounding "no" to something that we really wanted, or purchasing a future losing billion-dollar lottery ticket that you waited to buy, along with hundreds of millions of other idiots who thought that we had some kind of chance of winning something from a jackpot where the odds of winning were so daunting that the sheer chances of claiming it had math scientist and old ladies laughing at you. "OK, STOP!" To live is the greatest miracle of all. There are many theories about why we...

Porridge and Oreos

You are here: Home » Porridge and Oreos Nico (left) and Christopher at a State Fair February 17, 2016 I do my best as a father to my two sons. Parenting is so damn difficult sometimes. Every day, I try to find the right way to make my children understand what is best for them. I'm in a perpetual state of Goldielocks in the book of the Three Bears while attempting to find what is suitable for my sons. Nico says sorry all the time. Even when he did nothing wrong. I used to do that when I was younger. I hate that he does that now. "No, Nico, don't be sorry unless you actually did something you aren't supposed to be sorry for," I lecture. Nico is so giving and sharing. Just like me. I don't want him to be totally like me. Now, think back to when you were a child. Did you please everyone? I sure did. Let's take a look back on one incident, shall we? I remember it well. I was in first grade, Reagan was about to win, the '80s was in the beginning...

New Year's Eve: Bucket List part III

You are here: Home » New Year's Eve: Bucket List part III New Years Eve, Midtown Manhattan Time Square. Ball at the Top ringing in 2016. February 8, 2016 I bought a Subway and Metro Card, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. The train was there, and the doors were wide open. Inviting me to her to Times Square. The Gods were smiling down upon me. I was sure that we were doing the right thing.   The train was relatively quiet, and we sat in the middle of the car. My love to my left. The boys to my right. I tried to fit in like a New York resident so that I wouldn't be messed with by anyone who thought they could mess with a tourist. I carefully toyed with my emotions. I moved my face around as if trying to itch a scratch I could not reach.   "You're not from around here, are you?" A man said while his wife snuggled on his right arm. My angry look quickly faded, and a smile crept onto my face. "I'm that obvious, huh? What gave ...
