“But I don’t want to go to bed.”

It’s late, and tomorrow is a school day, besides there’s work, don’t be a jerk, lets hit the hay, before it gets too late.

“But I don’t have to got to bed. It just isn’t time. ”

We’re very tired. Please lets just go to bed. It’s time for goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite, remember all that stuff.

“But I don’t want to go to bed. I want to watch TV.”

It’s been a long day, full of activity, we did so much and it’s that time. Come on lets go count some sheep and fall asleep.

“This is unfair I shouldn’t be forced to go to bed because, it’s not that I don’t care. I don’t want to go to bed.”

I’m making sure your fully rested for tomorrow. It was a long day today. It was a long day yesterday and we’re in for a long day tomorrow, surly you can see the bed was made for you and me. Let’s close our eyes and catch a wink.

“But I can rest off and on during the day. Life isn’t always go, go, go. Please, I just want to stay up a little while longer. I promise I’ll remember the bed when it’s time. I don’t want to go to bed.”

See, you’re so tired, because you’re not making decisions based on what’s best for you. I’m helping you if you’d only just listen. Time for some shut eye and close the business.

“But I know what’s good for me; I’m not ready to go to bed. I can determine what the best time is for me to go to bed. I don’t feel like it’s that time as of yet.”

It’s healthy to sleep early. Don’t ya know the human body needs eight hours of rest?

“But I’m well rested because I have sat around today. Little activity, less exertion, equals more rest. Besides, I don’t want to go to bed.”

What if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep. Sometimes warm milk won’t always put you to sleep. You’ll be grateful for those first few hours of rest you had.

“I’m just not ready for bed. There’s no need for it. It is what it is but I don’t have to do it. I don’t wanna go to bed.”

Don’t you realize I can’t let you be? The night isn’t still young sleep has begun.

“I can sleep here or there or anywhere. I can watch TV while I sleep. But right now I don’t want to go to bed. “

Soon you will see it’s bed for you and me regardless how bad you want to stay awake, I’m telling you for your own good to put the remote down, slide under the covers, close your eyes because it’s sleepy time.

I love you my boys, Nico and Christopher, but I just don’t want to sleep. I’m dad, I can decided when it’s best for bed but I don’t want to sleep, or hit the hay, maybe I can let the bed bugs bite, just for one night, I don’t want to count the sheep just do get a wink or two. But I’m steadfast in my resolve to stay awake I don’t need the shut eye since I’m still open for business.  Milk does a body good but that isn’t a reason to warm it up just to REM I just want to daydream about staying awake for goodness sake.

“Come on daddy let’s go to bed.”

Alright, fine- you win. Let’s go close our eyes. Time does fly and it so late now we might as well not wait. Good night, my boys, dream away and lets enjoy another day. I love you.

"Far Away"

You are here: Home » "Far Away" May 5th, 2012 For mommy in heaven… My kids wouldn't let me sleep last night. I kept them busy all afternoon and evening, yet they were still very hyper. I picked Nico up from school at 2:00 o'clock P.M. and decided to take them for a road trip to Broward County. It's a close drive from where we live. I am just one county over to the north. I didn't feel like going home and falling into the same routine. I wanted to stimulate the boys so that they would sleep later that night. Honestly, maybe we all could get some sleep that night. It's hard to get motivated in life when you are sleep-deprived. Nico leaves class about 10 minutes earlier than the rest of the school. Since he was a premature baby, he has had a learning delay with speech. The State of Florida placed him in a program called Early Steps. It's a great program, and it allows him to catch up to the rest of his peers academically so that by the time h...

Hi Mama. Bye Mama

You are here: Home » Hi Mama. Bye Mama. June 26, 2012 Hi mama. Bye, mama. And so it goes. Up the street, hi, mama, down the street, bye, mama. The boys know where they can find mommy. It's just down the road, a path we take every day. Everywhere we go. We go with the flow. Hi mama. Bye, mama. It always starts the same, the familiar path of the road the boys have become accustomed to. It doesn't matter what we do; we will always pass right on through; regardless of how we travel, mom will always be on their left or their right. She's never too far out of sight. Hi mama. Bye, mama. The boys anticipate the car ride. They look on either side as we drive by, seeking a clear view of their mama to be seen through. They eagerly await with no other thought on their plate. They are just waiting for the moment to see their number one visually. Hi mama. Bye, mama We are getting closer now; they look at Dad, their pal. Their smiles reach from ear to ear, knowing the time is near...

Anatomy of a Loss

You are here: Home » Anatomy of a Loss July 5, 2012 When you lose someone that you love and that you depend on, it feels like everything around you has just crashed and burned. It doesn't matter what is happening in the world because yours just got charred beyond recognition. You are forced to reprogram everything about you. Who you are. What your path in life was. The goals you had planned. Everything before the death of a loved one is scraped.  Your mind wanders about aimlessness, and you just go over your mind time and time again about how you will be able to do it. Where do you go from here? You are afraid and bewildered because you are unsure what to do and who to turn to. You find that you question God and yourself and examine everything about your life.  The doubts set in about yourself, and you want to return to the day before so badly just to reassure yourself that everything ...
